The world has changed..

The darkest day of humanity has just passed.. or maybe not?

It was May 26th, 2024, when an Israeli aistrike on a camp for displaced Palestinians in the southern Gaza, city of Rafah, resulted in at least 45 deaths, including children, women and the elderly. It seemed back then as the darkest day of humanity and then 17th of November 2024 set the scene for more to come.

But let’s discuss about 26th of May for a while.

This airstrike was a part of the 8-month long war of Israel against Palestine, and the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claimed that the above airstrike targeted Hamas militants, and the death of children, women and elderly wasn’t the goal, but an “accident”.

For those of us who follow the news regarding the war, there are no words to describe the feelings of watching children’s dead bodies, as well as, fathers holding those dead bodies at their hands. The words are poor to describe the grief and the pain of this reality, as well as, the anger of letting this happen. But, who has allowed it to happen?

For those of you, who haven’t heard or watched anything related, I recommend to initially watch videos and images of the situation, make your own conclusion about it and then read whatever media article related to it, you wish.

But what made that day, 26th of May, different? Why do the deaths of children, women and elderly (estimated at 45) differ from the rest deaths we have been exposed to in recent decades, from Iraq, Afganistan, Libya etc.? Why Ukraine — Russian war is not the same?

Is it the number of deaths? Is it that there were dead bodies of children? Is it about their ethnicity? What is it about?

None of them or all of them. The truth is that we live in 21st century in year 2024… What does this mean?

We have access, thanks to internet, to huge amount of information that never before was available so easily to so many people around the globe.

We can educate ourselves without going to school or without having being taught anything about a specific topic in the past through online learning platforms and educational institutions and some of them are completely free.

We can watch almost live what is happening in countries thousand miles away from us.

We support peace at every instance (on talking), but we don’t do it on acting. We have observed a few countries around the world going on wars and we keep treating that events as life it is..

Sorry for this, but wars aren’t life as it is.. Cynism has no place here.

So, back to the question.. what makes this case a different story?

One full fact: we are watching live the extinction of a whole nation and we go on our days as regular ones..

How do you feel about it?

How can you kill the light (aka children)? Who are you to do it? And who has given you the permission to kill the light that God sends to us?

Who is someone that kills the light? Who can be that person?

Thinking that it’s not only one, but even more makes things even worse.

To my innocence I thought it was the worst day of humanity, that I would experience during my life on earth , but some people had other thoughts in mind.

On 17th of November, two days ago, US President Joe Biden, gave permission and technical support ot Ukranian President Zelensky to use US missiles inside Russia, setting the scene for a WWIII.

Does it also make sense? No…

It’s 2024 and while we, humanity, are having all the chances to create better lives for all, we decide to kill more people and showproof others that we are better than them , that we are the occupiers…

These, unfortunately, real situations remind me of greek mythology.

In Greek mythology, when regular people tended to consider themselves as Gods, as proved by their actions, there were Gods’ involvement for ensuring justice is served.

Actually, there were three phases -once the human had surpassed the first two, the third was the Gods’ involvemnt -:

Hybris (or hubris), nemesis and tisis (at that order):

The three concepts are interconnected in the moral and ethical framework of Greek mythology. Have you ever heard about them?

  1. Hubris (Hybris): An individual, due to excessive pride or arrogance, oversteps boundaries or challenges the divine order.
  2. Nemesis: The divine force or deity that administers this retribution, ensuring justice is served.
  3. Tisis: The inevitable consequence or retribution that follows the act of hubris.

To my eyes, actions like those described above and also others, such as human trafficking taking place everywhere, have called on hubris and nemesis seems to be around the corner.

Have you ever thought of how peaceful and magnicifent this life on earth would be if our actions were addressed towards improving our daily lives and caring for others instead of hating and trying to destroy, steal or exploit others just to praise our ego?

Imagine it for a while and let me know what do you see..

To a better world for all:)
